RWJBarnabas Health Leadership Forum is designed for the PGY1 and PGY2 residents
in the RWJBarnabas system to gain experience and expertise in Leadership
and Management in addition to their already established learning experiences.
The topics taught are items that are not a part of traditional clinical
training and gained by many on the fly or in a situational basis. Topics
include: team building, collaboration, human resource management, goal
setting, metrics, financial management, culture, business etiquette and
networking. Through 6 off-site interactive sessions, residents are provided
with dedicated time to review and develop these skills. Additionally,
these sessions allow the formation of a deeper connection and relationship
with the residents across the Enterprise.
Preceptor in Training
The resident will act as a preceptor for the PGY1 resident as well as precept
many of the P4 APPE Students who rotate through the hospital. The pharmacy
department is very educational based with 2 preceptors being clinical
pharmacists from Fairleigh Dickinson University, School of Pharmacy.
Didactic Course Presentation
The resident will have an opportunity to present to P3 pharmacy students
in an advanced pharmacy elective course at FDU School of Pharmacy.
RWJBarnabas Health Network
Community Medical Center is member of RWJBarnabas Health, one of the largest
health systems in the country. As such, the resident will have frequent
interactions and networking opportunities will clinical pharmacists across
the state with many different backgrounds. Additionally, the resident
has an opportunity to rotate to different hospitals within the network
and experience a multitude of critical care rotations.
PGY2 Residents will have the opportunity to participate in a teaching
certificate program offered by Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy that will
strengthen precepting skills.
