Obstetrics and Gynecology
OB/GYN Residency
Jersey City Medical Center – a highly regarded academic teaching
hospital - prides itself on its Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Keeping up with the latest technologies and procedures, our physicians
are committed to training the next generation of physicians.
In this intellectually stimulating environment, residents and faculty work
as a team to provide exceptional care to patients.
Our physicians play an integral role in the academic and clinical education
of 12 residents in training - three residents per postgraduate year in
the obstetrics and gynecology residency program. Residents are supervised
24 hours per day, 365 days per year by an in-house attending physician
who is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Enhanced Patient Care Through a Culture of Discovery
Our faculty and attending physician are up-to-date on the latest literature,
procedures and recommendations from evidenced-based medicine. Residents
enhance patient care by providing readily accessible, timely and appropriate
patient-centered care. They are trained in patient safety issues and contribute
to patient safety and performance improvement projects.
In addition to learning the medical skills needed to become a physician
in this specialized field, residents also develop an equally important
skill—how to treat patients as people, offering them and their families
the support they need at what could be the most joyful or most difficult
time of their lives. After completing the four-year residency, residents
are prepared either to enter private practice or to enter a fellowship.
Many residents who graduated from the Jersey City Medical Center Ob/Gyn
program remain in the area. Several of the faculty members and many of
the private obstetrician gynecologists on staff are graduates of this
residency program as well.
