Criteria for Resident Graduation

  • Residency research project and written manuscript in publishable form received by the RPD within 3 months of completion of the program
  • Writing development (Drug information questions, medication use evaluations, pharmacy newsletter, formulary monographs presented to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, poster presentation at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, platform presentation at Eastern States Conference)
  • Teaching (in-services, journal clubs, case-based disease state discussions, topic discussions)
  • Participation in multi-disciplinary rounds
  • Attendance at ASHP Midyear, Eastern States, NJSHP Annual Meeting
  • Staffing every other weekend
  • Successful completion of required learning experiences
    • Required learning experiences include:
      • Internal Medicine I and II
      • Critical Care
      • Emergency Medicine
      • Administrative/Medication Safety
      • Infectious Diseases
      • Psychiatry
      • Practice Management
      • Staffing
      • Research Project
  • The following Competency Areas are required:
    • R1: Patient Care
    • R2: Advance Practice and Improve Patient Care
    • R3: Leadership and Management
    • R4: Teaching, Education, and Dissemination of Knowledge
    • E1: Pharmacy Research
    • E5: Participate in the management of medical emergencies
  • Required educational goals and objectives are assessed as “Achieved for Residency” for 90% of objectives.
  • Progress towards completion of the Residency Program will be evaluated every 3 months between the Resident and the Residency Program Director. A written action plan will be developed every 3 months to address performance improvement.
