Community benefit programs and services are designed to improve the health of our communities and increase access to health care across our service area. Charitable community benefits are integral to our mission and are the basis of our non-profit status.

At RWJBarnabas Health, we believe Life is better healthy. That is not just a tagline of our system — it is a driving force behind our quest to improve the health of our communities and the families who live and work in this region.

As a result of our commitment to healthier communities, RWJBarnabas Health offers a vast array of critical programs and services that would otherwise be unavailable or inaccessible in this region.

Year after year, RWJBarnabas Health provides millions of dollars of charitable community benefits because of the system’s commitment to caring for New Jersey residents.

While often unnoticed and undervalued, RWJBarnabas Health’s contributions positively impact the region’s broader health care network and promote wellness for all who live and work in our communities. In all, RWJBarnabas Health invested more than $296.3 million in 2013, providing much-needed programs, services and care to our communities, including:

• Uncompensated and government-sponsored health care
• Community health improvement services
• Subsidized health services
• Medical research
• Health care workforce education
• Community-building activities and charitable donations
