Community-Building Activities and Donations

Community-building activities improve the community’s health and safety by addressing the root causes of health problems. These activities strengthen the community’s capacity to promote the health and well-being of its residents by offering the expertise and resources of the health care organization.
Poverty, homelessness and environmental hazards can take a toll on a person’s health and well-being. At Barnabas Health, we recognize that the provision of health care is only one component of helping people live healthier lives. We help individuals in our communities gain access to nutritious, fresh food; support initiatives that promote wellness and physical activity; and we provide professional and personal development services for individuals in need, at-risk children and their parents. In 2013, Barnabas Health invested more than $470,000 on community- building activities that provide care for individuals beyond their medical needs.
Additionally, Barnabas Health is proud to support and partner with countless other organizations throughout the state that are striving to make our communities better places in which to live, work and play with $3.1 million in donations and grants each year.
