More than 1,000 previously uninsured individuals now are part of New Jersey’s expanded state Medicaid program, thanks to an Affordable Care Act (ACA) education and enrollment program presented by Monmouth Medical Center.

“We have seen an unbelievable shift from the uninsured to the expanded state Medicaid program,” says Marta Silverburg, Chief Executive Officer of Monmouth Family Health Center at Monmouth Medical Center.

“We are taking an aggressive stance by holding free communication and enrollment events, and making it as convenient as possible for individuals to learn about coverage options and take advantage of open enrollment,” Marta adds. “We are determined to convert individuals who qualify for the program so we are talking to current patients and reaching out to other members of the community.”

Congressman Frank Pallone, who played a key role in writing the health reform bill and helping to guide it through the U.S. House of Representatives and eventually into law, joined Monmouth Medical Center at the enrollment event titled “What Coverage Under the Affordable Care Act Means to You,” and talked to participants about the program.
