Our Heart Centers
Our Heart Centers participate in more clinical research trials than any
other cardiac program in New Jersey. For more than two decades, the cardiovascular
research teams have been active participants in both industry-sponsored
and investigator-initiated research projects in a variety of subspecialties
including diagnostic, invasive, and non-invasive cardiology; electrophysiology;
heart failure management; cardiothoracic surgery; and cardiac transplantation.

“Increasingly, patients do not accept the idea that there are no
options,” says Mark J. Zucker, MD, JD, Director, Cardiothoracic
Transplantation Program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, principal
investigator on several leading clinical trials. “Ultimately, clinical
trials for cutting-edge technologies address the unmet need to provide
therapies for people with end-stage heart failure when more traditional
treatment options fail.” A spectrum of interventions is being evaluated
by our team for patients with advanced heart failure.
