PGY2 Critical Care Residency Program
Mission, Vision, Values
This program provides residents with the experience and training necessary
to become a critical care clinical pharmacy specialist and/or clinical
faculty. The resident will be responsible for providing care in our medical
ICU, surgical ICU, cardiac care unit, and emergency department while undergoing
longitudinal experiences in cardiac arrest response team, academia, and
pharmacy administration. Elective rotations are available in infectious
disease, ambulance ride-along, trauma, psychiatry and other areas. The
resident will be involved in teaching students from Fairleigh Dickinson
University School of Pharmacy on rotation and in the classroom.
There is one PGY2 position available at CMC. We participate in the Pharmacy
Online Residency Centralized Application Service and will be participating
in the ASHP Residency Matching Service for all classes.
Purpose
PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development
of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized practice in Critical
Care. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function
independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated
experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of
patient care that improves medication therapy. Residents who successfully
complete the Community Medical Center Critical Care PGY2 pharmacy residency
will possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and/or
faculty positions and position them to be eligible for attainment of board
certification in Critical Care.
