Welcome to the Monmouth Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program!

Margaret H. Eng, M.D.

Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine residency program at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. We invite you to browse through our website so that you may appreciate the various facets of our training program.

Our hospital is a teaching hospital which will expose you to a variety of patients with a myriad of disease processes. We are looking for people whose clinical skills we can nurture via the active management of patients, the formulation of relevant learning issues and questions and the regular review of the medical literature and other resources.

Upon completing residency training here you will be able to practice quality evidence based clinical medicine. You will be able to pass the American Board of Internal Medicine exam (our board passage rate exceeds the national average over many years). You will also be able to understand the economic and ethical issues important to the private practitioner. Our curriculum includes seminars on the financial management of a medical practice, as well as important ethico-legal issues in medicine, performance improvement, patient satisfaction, psychosocial issues and palliative care.

Perhaps the most important feature of our program is the fact that the program and departmental directors as well as the key faculty members work with you every day in caring for patients on the wards and in the clinic. We give you feedback on a daily basis about your performance, and we quickly get to know your skills and areas for improvement. We teach and learn with you on a daily basis. We respect and treat you as a colleague.

Monmouth County is a beautiful place to live with an enjoyable pace of life. Many graduates choose to stay in the area to practice medicine, and they proudly participate as faculty members in our program.
