Program Overview

Monmouth Medical Center, in Long Branch, Monmouth County, New Jersey, is one of New Jersey’s largest community-based teaching medical centers. Monmouth Medical Center’s three-year categorical internal medicine residency program, accredited since 1950, combines clinical and formal education in a setting that encourages open discussion and teamwork among the residents and faculty.

It has been an academic affiliate of Philadelphia’s Drexel University College of Medicine since 1969, and has grown today to be Drexel’s largest major academic medical affiliate in New Jersey.

The program is designed to provide optimum training in internal medicine, emphasizing the diagnosis and treatment of the ambulatory patient with continuity into the inpatient setting. It continues to provide appropriate training for individuals who also wish to proceed to sub-specialty fellowship training. Our graduates have been successful both in entering primary care practices in a variety of settings and in obtaining highly competitive sub-specialty fellowships.
