Cardiology (Fellowship)

The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a comprehensive, three-year clinical training program. It is designed to provide the basic General Cardiology training required by ACGME and offers advanced training to further enhance fellow’s experience in any cardiac subspecialty as per fellow’s interest and career goals.

All fellows rotate among two of the largest hospitals in the state, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Saint Barnabas Medical Center, with a total of more than 1200 beds. The two hospitals offer an exceptional variety of patient populations and various manifestations of common and rare cardiac pathologies. Our state of the art cardiology division provides exceptional clinical training in general cardiology and all the subspecialties throughout the three years of fellowship.

Research is an important component of our program. The overall patient volume, variety of basic and advanced clinical services, faculty and research support staff provides the basic infrastructure required for meaningful clinical research. Our excellence in research is evident by the effective contributions of our fellows at the all the national cardiology meetings and the number of peer reviewed publications.

The program meets all the training requirements as set forth by ACGME. Internal medicine residency in the United States is a prerequisite for admission. Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS®). We participate in the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP).
