Pharmacy Residency Program
Welcome
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey is
a part of the RWJBarnabas Health System, the largest health system in
New Jersey. The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Robert Wood Johnson University
Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ is intended to provide extensive
post-graduate training in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice. The
program has been designed to meet all standards and requirements of the
American System of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and the residency
is fully accredited by that organization.
Pharmacists completing this residency will be competent and confident clinicians,
providing evidence-based patient care in collaboration with other healthcare
professionals. They will efficiently communicate with patients and other
healthcare professionals, utilizing effective educational techniques that
have been individualized to suit the intended audience. With the aid of
appropriate information technology, they will effectively manage practice-based
projects and the overall medication-use process. These pharmacists will
demonstrate professionalism by developing a strategy for ongoing, self-directed
learning, conducting themselves in an ethical manner, and developing a
personal approach to practice leadership. After completion of this residency,
the pharmacist clinician should additionally be prepared to pursue further
postgraduate training in the area of their choice. The Pharmacy Residency
Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital provides an environment
designed to produce competent and compassionate health system pharmacists.
The program provides residents with a variety of opportunities to develop
their clinical, communication and leadership skills all while providing
superior care to patients.
