Dr. Smith has served as Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer for Jersey City Medical Center since 2004. Dr. Smith has extensive experience in management and strategic planning.

Before joining Jersey City Medical Center, Dr. Smith held leadership positions in nursing and clinical service at several hospitals in New Jersey and New York.

Dr. Smith holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Rutgers, Newark, a Masters in Public Administration from NYU and a Bachelor's in Nursing from Kean University.

Dr. Smith has published articles on pain management and lectured on nursing leadership, nursing finance and evidence-based practice.
