Jennifer A. O'Neill, DNP, APN, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services, oversees all aspects of the Nursing Division and the more than 1,000 nurses employed by Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Ms. O'Neill is an innovative leader with a proven track record of dramatically improving quality and the level of care for patients in the hospital and on a regional basis. She specializes in creating models of excellence in clinical, operational, and administrative realms by spearheading high-impact strategies, programs, and teams. Her focus is on building an outstanding reputation among patients, community, and healthcare peers via the implementation of superior service clearly reflected in quantifiable survey and audit scores. She leverages lean methodology to drive continuous process improvements while maximizing efficiency and capacity. Ms. O'Neill is committed to developing and guiding both people and organizations to achieve their highest potential.
Having begun her career at Saint Barnabas Medical Center as a registered nurse and then Patient Care Coordinator, she then spent seven years in the outpatient setting as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Manager and Registered Nurse First Assist for a busy OB/GYN practice in Livingston, NJ. Ms. O'Neill rejoined Saint Barnabas Medical Center as a Nurse Manger, quickly rising through the organization to her most recent position as Assistant Vice President of Patient Care Services overseeing the Maternal-Child Health and Medical-Surgical Divisions. In that role, she oversaw all aspects of these two busy divisions, implementing numerous new initiatives focused on improving patient care, communication and patient satisfaction.
Ms. O'Neill received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on Women's Health from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice Administration from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, Newark, NJ. In addition to being a licensed Registered Nurse and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Ms. O'Neill has received numerous certifications including Emotional Quotient and Advanced Lean Leadership.
Ms. O'Neill is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau International. She is also a past member of Board of Directors for the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey.
